Ratings are published for the 100 largest councils in New South Wales.
The councils that are not presently rated by FiscalStar are generally those with revenues from annual rates & charges of less than $10 million.
FiscalStar has now published its latest assessments for NSW councils updated where possible for a council's 2007/08 financials. These latest assessments are included in a financial sustainability review commissioned by Review Today Pty Ltd. The FiscalStar report can be downloaded from the Technical/Publications page of this website which can be accessed by clicking here.
FiscalStar's associated two-page technical report on a council (95Kb) can be downloaded by right-clicking on the name of the council in the following summary table.
Dashboard-style reports sent to councils can be viewed on the Technical/Dashboard model (NSW) page.
An "S" assessment indicates the council's existing policies are assessed as "financially sustainable", a "V" assessment indicates the council's existing policies are assessed as "financially vulnerable", and a "U" assessment indicates the council's existing policies are assessed as "financially unsustainable". An "N" assessment indicates that the council has not been assessed due to its failure to publish its full financial reports on its website. Definitions of these "S", "U" and "V" terms can be viewed by clicking here.
