Updated FiscalStar financial sustainability league tables were published on 4 April 2008.

With the exception of NSW and Queensland councils, the updated league tables take into account developments revealed in 2006/07 for rated councils that have published their 2006/07 audited financial statements & notes on their websites by our cut-off date of 14 March 2008.

For NSW councils, FiscalStar is delaying publication of its updated ratings until late July 2008, which is after an information gathering and checking exercise with each council sponsored by Review Today Pty Ltd.

For Queensland councils, FiscalStar will not now be updating its ratings until audited financial statements have been published based on the new council boundaries.

Each States' latest league table can be downloaded from the respective Councils/State page on this website.

Since the February 2008 update, the ratings of a further 25 councils have been updated by FiscalStar. For these councils, there were:

• 8 upgrades, involving material improvement in the councils’ overall financial condition or performance in 2006/07 over that reported for 2005/06
• 5 downgrades, involving material deterioration in the councils’ overall financial condition or performance in 2006/07 over that reported for 2005/06 
• and 7 new ratings: Gwyder (0), Leeton (0), Liverpool Plains (1) and Wellington (0) in NSW, Port Augusta (2˝) and Whyalla (3) in SA and Sorell (1) in Tasmania.
